About Our Permanent Lighting Work in Waterford

We install permanent lighting along the rooflines of homes around Waterford, and much of our work happens on houses that have been patched, re-sided and re-guttered over the decades. We look at what is behind the fascia before we mount anything, so the lights hold up as long as the house does.

Why we start with the house, not the lights

A permanent lighting system is simple on paper. An aluminum channel fastens under the roofline, LED nodes clip into it, and low-voltage wire runs to a power supply and an app-controlled controller. On a newer house with straight fascia and a fresh outdoor outlet, that is most of the job.

Older homes add steps. Fascia boards may be original wood hidden under aluminum wrap, gone soft at the corners where gutters overflowed for years. Gutters have often been replaced in sections, with spikes, hidden hangers and strap brackets all on one run. The nearest exterior outlet may be an old box with no GFCI protection, or one that shares a circuit with half the porch. None of that shows from the driveway.

So we look first. Before we quote, we check the fascia for rot and loose wrap, note how the gutters are hung, find where the power will come from and see whether the outlet is fit to feed a transformer outdoors year-round. Then we tell you what we found and how it changes the install, in plain terms.

How we work on every job

Fasteners into solid wood

Track screws need sound backing. If a section of fascia is soft or the wrap is only tacked on, we point it out and mount where the wood will hold. Screws driven into punky boards let go after a few freeze-thaw cycles, and a sagging run of lights is the first thing a neighbor notices.

Wire you will not see

We route wire through soffit vents, along existing trim lines or beside downspouts so it disappears. On houses with layered siding or old cedar shakes, we pick a path that avoids new holes where water could get behind the cladding.

A straight answer on power

If your outlet is outdated or already loaded, we say so before any work starts and explain what it means for the system. You decide the next step with the facts in front of you.

Set up before we leave

We pair the controller with your phone, walk you through the app and show you how to schedule holiday colors or everyday warm white for curb appeal. Ladders come down, scraps go in our truck, and the yard looks the way we found it.

The towns we serve

Our home base is Waterford, NY, and we put up permanent lighting in the towns around it: Cohoes, Troy, Halfmoon, Latham, Brunswick, Watervliet, Green Island, Clifton Park, Niskayuna and North Greenbush. Hard winters take a toll on trim here, so on our first visit we look at the fascia just as closely as we plan where the lights go.
