Window and Roofline Lighting in Waterford

We install permanent lighting along the roofline and over your windows, fastened to sound fascia instead of painted trim. The front of the house reads clean and finished every night of the year, and you run it all from an app on your phone.

Light that frames the windows, year-round

Our work is permanent exterior lighting, and this page covers the runs that frame your windows. We don't work on the glass, sashes or screens themselves. What we do is make the front of the house look sharp after dark, and the windows are where the eye lands first.

Lights placed above the window heads and along the roofline do much of that job. On an older house that takes some care. Fascia boards may be original wood under aluminum capping, trim can carry six or seven layers of paint, and the one exterior outlet is often an old two-prong box with no GFCI protection. We look at all of that before we mount anything.

The result is a low-profile aluminum channel, color-matched to the trim, with LEDs you control from an app. No clips, no tape, no ladder every November.

What a window-framing lighting job includes

  1. 01

    Roofline and window-head survey

We walk the outside of the house and measure every run of fascia and every window head you want lit. We note corners, gable returns and spots where a past repair left a seam or a patch of newer wood.

  2. 02

    Fascia and trim condition check

We press-test wood for soft spots and look behind loose aluminum capping. Track screwed into rotted fascia will pull loose, so we show you photos of anything questionable and tell you plainly where we can and cannot mount.

  3. 03

    Color-matched track mounting

The channel is fastened under the drip edge or against the fascia, not driven through painted window trim. That keeps old paint from cracking and keeps water from finding new holes.

  4. 04

    Power supply and outlet check

We locate the low-voltage power supply near a weather-protected exterior outlet and confirm it is GFCI protected. If the outlet is too old to use safely, we tell you before work starts so there is no surprise on the day.

  5. 05

    App setup and cleanup

Before we leave, we pair the lights to your phone, set a schedule and walk you through color and brightness. We pick up cut-offs, screws and packaging from beds and the driveway.

Signs lighting will help more than another season of clips

  • Clips snapping off the gutters

Plastic light clips go brittle in the cold and crack on old K-style gutters. Pieces end up in the downspouts and the lights sag by January.

  • Paint peeling where tape was

If last year's lights left bare patches on the window trim, the adhesive pulled off loose layers of old paint. Permanent track avoids the trim entirely.

  • The ladder trip every fall

Climbing a second-story roofline twice a year on uneven ground is the riskiest chore many people do. Lights that stay up remove it.

  • An outlet that trips

Strings of older incandescent bulbs plugged into one aging exterior outlet can trip the breaker. LED runs draw a small fraction of that load.

  • A dark front after sunset

Even spotless windows disappear at 5 p.m. in December. Soft light above them brings back the curb appeal.

How the work runs

  1. 1

Quote by phone, then a visit

You call, describe the house and what you want lit, and we set a time to measure. The quote is free and itemized by run length, corners and power.

  2. 2

    Prep and protection

On install day we set ladder standoffs so rails never rest on gutters, and we lay drop cloths over plantings below the work.

  3. 3

    Track, lights and wiring

We mount the channel, seat the LEDs, and route the low-voltage lead along the trim to the power supply. Wire runs are tucked and fastened, not left draped.

  4. 4

    Test and hand-off

We light every run, check for dead nodes, set your schedule in the app and leave the area as clean as we found it.

What moves the price

Every quote comes from your own measurements, not a flat per-house number. Older houses vary more than new ones, so the condition of the wood and the electrical setup matter as much as length. We list each factor on a written estimate before you decide.

Total linear feet
Roofline plus window heads adds up fast on a house with many bays or dormers. More feet means more track and more LEDs.
Height and access
A second or third story, steep pitch or tight side yard takes more setup time and safer equipment.
Fascia condition
Soft or rotted boards cannot hold track. We point them out with photos; repairing them is a separate decision for you.
Power location
A usable GFCI outlet near the run keeps things simple. A long wire route to reach power adds material and labor.

Questions about window and roofline lighting

Do you work on the windows themselves?

No. We don't touch the glass, sashes or screens. We are a lighting contractor, and we install permanent exterior lighting, including runs that frame the windows and roofline.

Will the track damage my old window trim?

We avoid fastening into painted trim on older houses. The channel mounts to the fascia or under the drip edge, which holds screws better and leaves your paint alone.

Can you light just the windows and not the whole roofline?

Yes. Some people light only the front window heads or a single gable. We measure what you want and quote that, not a package.

What if my fascia is in rough shape?

We tell you before we install anything and show you photos. We will not mount track to wood that will not hold it, because the lights would fail with it.

How do I control the lights?

Through an app on your phone. You can set schedules, change colors for holidays and dim them, all without going outside.
